Autumn Lust List

This may seem a little black, monochrome, standard for Autumn but as I have just moved back from Queensland I am in desperate need of a few key pieces to get me through the cooler weather.  So with the absence of colour from the clothes I have paired it with colourful flowers to show how these staples will keep me warm and allow me to wear them with pieces from my summer wardrobe.

Here is my Autumn Lust List:

Bronzed Up - On A Budget

Everyone wants to look bronzed in summer, including me! As a fair skinned lady I can use all the help I can get.  But as we all know Wellington summers are fleeting and these budget picks will get you through the long summer days without making you feel like crying when the skies cloud over again.

You might notice I am a bit of a Rimmel fan...

The go to for a complete summer look has to be a great bronzing powder.  This Rimmel Sun Shimmer Compact Powder is the perfect matte bronzer.  I have the shade light matte.  This is really subtle, sometimes you can hardly tell you have it on but it definitely brings a warmth to the face.  The great thing about it being a matte formula is that it can also double as a contour powder! It's subtly comes in handy for a contour novice like myself.  This bronzer retails at $20.99.

Let's talk eyeshadow bases -

This month I have tried two eyeshadows that are a completely foreign formula to me.  I have heard everyone raving about eyeshadow sticks and crèmes and thought it was about time to give it a go!  Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo in the shade Bad to the Bronze is a beautiful base.  It has a gorgeous foil shimmer and it really does last! The lasting power of this shadow is like no other I have used. This retails for $15.99.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick in Trespassing Taupe is a matte base.  It is great for daywear or for wearing to work.  The application of this is just so easy.  Draw all over your lid and blend it out a bit.  So for those with the shakiest of hands, like myself, it is a dream. The only downfall is this product just does not have the same staying powder as Color Tattoo and definitely needs a transition colour through the crease! This retails for $16.99.

My favourite budget buy of the month has to go to the BYS Eyeliner in Bronze Glitter.  I think you will see why when you check out the swatches below.  Firstly the price - $4.95 is unbeatable.  I felt that this was something I wouldn't use everyday so didn't want to spend a lot of money.  The application is relatively easy although I would probably prefer a sturdier brush.  It is a fun way to jazz up (jazz up.. bronze up.. up up..) your make up for an evening look.

I brought this lipstick in the Revlon sale when I was buying a new foundation.  The make up artist put this Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Honey Bare on and I thought it looked great.  This would be perfect for a no make up, make up day.  The formula is sheer with a shimmer and the colour is a nude but definitely heading towards the bronze side.  I feel like this is a great lipstick to use when you have bold eye make up or are going out to eat because it isn't going to get messy and is easy to reapply.  This retails for $25.99.

And now... here are the swatches:

From the top to the bottom of my hand it goes:

BYS Eyeliner Bronze Glitter
Maybelline 24hr Color Tattoo - Bad to the Bronze
Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Stick - Trespassing Taupe
Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick - Honey Bare
